In order to transform American education to see the fullfillment of the goals established by President Obama, " the National Educational Technology Plan call for revolutionary transformation rather than evolutionary tinkering"(pg.4). One can believe this is the thought of many educators in the school systems of today. Along with that thought comes questions as to how to accomplish this. And how will it be funded and what strategies are to be used? This report gives goals and reccommendations in five areas: learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure and productivity. Using the knowledge students have today to foster learning and to engage students in technology learning is a must and a goal that educators strive to encourage. This report also mentions the need for assessments, technologically based assessments that can be used to
generate data and then that data can be used to drive future decisons.
This report stresses the need for constant and consistent implementation of goals and objectives, but also includes the necessary mandates these goals and objectives be monitored, assessed, evaluated, and the data used to drive decisions. Educators and administrators must, " apply the advanced technologies available in our daily lives to student learning and to our entire educational system in innovative ways that improve designs, accelerate adoption, and measure outcomes" (18). The report also dicusses collaborative and connected learning and the use of learning communities as a means of professional development with the idea that preparing teachers and keeping them prepared with the most current innovative means of educating todays children will enhance learning and progress and be a means of achieving the goal that we will ahve increased percentages of graduates and students ready for college education.
