On March 6, I was home with the flu and since I was unable to attend church, I decided to try the web conference thing! WOW am I ever excited I did! There were many people, I believe 97 in the conference and only 2 on camera with Dr. Abernathy. If youhad questions, you should have been there. It seemed many people had the same questions and kept asking them over and over. Dr. A was so patient and she was great at redirecting the questions to other in the conference for us to answer. It kept us all involved but if you did not stay with the chat session you could quickly get lost in the threads! I could not help but laugh at the addition of children, pets, and the explicit that erupted froma spouse who did not know until too late she was on the camera. I learned alot and enjoyed the time immensely. The hour goes by quickly.!
On March 12th, I attended my second conference. The first one was so much fun, I had to get in on another! There were more people on cameras in this one. And if you want to upset DR. A who has a tremendous amount of patience with the process--just toggle back and forth with the buttons! IT is hard on the mind and eyes when someone plays with the buttons. This conference , there seemed to be a great deal more interaction between the classmates instead of just with Dr. Abernathy. She is wonderful at asking the right questions to get us going. I also learned you can find people in your boat if you feel alone. There seemed to be an ease at expressing your confusions and frustrations that I think might not be quite so easy if you in a class face to face. Overall, the interaction and the feeling of really being connected with others is so worth seeing your mug on a camera that you know others are watching. I think the large amount of people trying to get into the conference is a little overwhelming but you do not think about it so much because it is a wonderful experience.
